Operations Assistant


Working at the heart of our Bristol Operation, based at Bristol Airport, the role of Operations Assistant plays a key part in helping our team provide an excellent and safe refuelling service to the Airline Operators, on behalf of our customers.

The successful candidate will have a solid administration background, preferably in the logistics or aviation sector.  We are looking for someone who can work calmly under pressure, be customer focused, flexible and open to getting involved in some operational tasks as required and will have an eye for detail.

This is an ideal role for someone who is keen to learn about the aviation refuelling operations sector.  There will be an opportunity to train and take on some operational based tasks in the future, which could lead to a career in aviation refuelling operations.

This post is 37.5 hours per week Monday to Friday, with flexibility to provide additional cover as required. The successful applicant will be required to obtain an airside pass which will involve completing a basic disclosure (CRB).

Primary Accountabilities

Entering data into Stock Accounting System, ensuring timely and accurate input, printing, checking and sending files daily to the customer and providing mid and month end reports.   Dealing with enquiries  from relevant third parties/customers in relation to the data, in an efficient and timely manner.

Support Manager in monitoring of stocks (fuel held on site), liaising with fuel suppliers, as agreed with Site Manager, to ensure that adequate stock levels are maintained

Organising airside parses for all visitors to site, escorting, meeting and dealing with all visitors in an efficient manner, providing site induction as required

General administration support to Manager and Supervisors,  which will include taking calls, dealing with correspondence, photocopying, , ordering stationary and other items required for the site, typing reports and meeting minutes.

Maintaining list of key dates in relation to staff, which will include airside medicals, surveillance tests and other requirements, making arrangements as required by the Manager

Point of contact for radio communications with operating staff and customers.

Assisting with the preparation of purchase orders and with general financial control.

Maintaining site filing system

Skills and Experience required:

5 GCSE’s (grade C and above) or equivalent

Highly Organised

Ability to work in a pressurised and fast paced environment

Ability to multi-task

Ability to pick up tasks/learn quickly

Confident Communicator

Experience of dealing with customers

Computer literate, able to use Word, Excel, Microsoft Outlook

Must have at least 5 years experience working in an Administration role.  Ideal candidate will have experience of working in the  Aviation or Logistics Sectors.  Scheduling Experience would be an advantage.

HGV Mechanic –  Maintenance Technician


North Air is responsible for providing into-plane services and fuel storage/hydrant operations on behalf of oil companies, joint venture companies and airport authorities. We operate at 20 locations across the UK, where we carry out approximately 300 000 fuelling’s per year. We aim to provide safe, reliable and efficient into-plane services and fuel storage operations, to our customers’ satisfaction.

North Air, are looking to recruit a qualified HGV Mechanic to maintain their fleet of aircraft refuelling vehicles at our Aberdeen Airport Site and on occasion Inverness Airport.

You will be part of a team responsible for planned and non-planned maintenance for a fleet of 13 – 30,000 ltr trucks between Aberdeen and Inverness. In addition some other duties include:

  • Working as a member of the maintenance team to ensure the on-time vehicle servicing and inspection of aircraft refuelling vehicles and associated fuelling equipment.
  • Organising own site visits and workloads to ensure vehicle inspections are carried out on schedule.
  • Providing sites with support for the non-routine maintenance of refuelling equipment. Some visits will be on a ‘call out’ basis so flexibility and a proactive attitude to problem solving will be required.
  • Oversee the use of 3rd party contractors to carry out specialised vehicle repairs and ensure that all recoverable costs are processed in accordance with prescribed requirements.
  • Ensuring that the Workshop complies to health and safety standards, ensuring all areas and equipment are safely stored.
  • Ensure that suitable levels of vehicle spare parts are maintained whilst keeping within agreed budgets.

The role will be based at Aberdeen Airport workshop with a requirement to support both Aberdeen and Inverness sites.

Hours of work are an average of 37.5 per week Monday to Friday but with the potential to move to a more flexible working pattern; to support the increasing workload and airport expansion in the future. This may involve working at weekends where a shift allowance may be payable.

The successful candidate will need to be:

  • A time served Truck Mechanic (HGV mechanic)
  • Currently or recently working on HGV Vehicles
  • A strong team player
  • have strong organisational skills and be able to work on their own initiative, working to strict deadlines and task objectives, with limited supervision
  • Ideally the successful candidate will hold a C+E License, but this is not essential

As this role involves some airside working, a CRB check and checkable work history, is essential as part of the airside pass application process.

In return, we offer a salary of up to £17.40 per hour approx. (£35,000 per annum) dependant on experience, a generous performance bonus scheme, up to 10% employers pension contribution, 25 days annual holiday plus public holidays and other benefits including child care voucher and cycle to work schemes.
